In light of recent concerns highlighted in the media regarding the misuse of Artificial
Intelligence (AI) technologies to create non-consensual images, the department, in
collaboration with Webwise, published updated information and guidance for parents
and schools on the risks, harms and safeguarding issues associated with AI-generated
nudification apps on 9 January 2026. This resource is intended to support schools in
engaging with parents and students on these issues and forms part of the department’s
wider online safety and digital citizenship supports.
